FIFA’s head of host broadcast production joined world football’s governing body in the Summer of 2015. Florin Mitu has since overseen the successful delivery of HB production at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup in Russia and Qatar and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 in France. His attention is now focused on the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.
The Swiss-Romanian previously spent 19 years at TEAM Marketing where, as head of TV production, Mitu helped establish and maintain UEFA Champions League as a global benchmark for top-quality sports broadcasting, as well as develop and implement the commercial and TV operational concept around the UEFA Europa League.
Mitu’s involvement with the FIFA World Cup started at U.S.A.‘94, when he commentated on the event for TVR, Romania’s public-service broadcaster. At TVR, he performed a variety of duties including graphics developer and operator, commentator, presenter, producer, and, ultimately, secretary general of sports.
